The Russian Federation’s military operations in Ukraine have created a massive humanitarian crisis, causing millions of individuals to flee their homes for safety. This crisis has affected not only people but also their pets, which have been left behind to fend for themselves in an environment that has become increasingly dangerous and unpredictable.
Many of these animals have been forced to live on the streets, scavenging for food and struggling to survive amidst the chaos and destruction of war. In addition to the physical dangers, these pets face emotional trauma as they are separated from their owners and must navigate a new and often hostile environment independently. The situation is further complicated by the lack of resources and infrastructure to care for these animals, leaving them vulnerable and in need of assistance.
Shelters nationwide are doing their best to help, but due to high population density and limited resources, they often struggle to meet the demand.
